IoT Connected lighting systems provide challenges as well as opportunities for the Design Team and Owner. Lighting has the ability to take on a key role in developing a connected space. Ardra Zinkon is currently serving as the Co-Chair of the IES IoT Connected Lighting Committee developing a Design Guide for the Industry. She'll be co-presenting on the topic next week at LEDucation in New York with two of her committee colleagues, Jered Widmer and Paula Ziengenbien.

Lighting Mockups Create Success!
At Tec Studio we believe in the importance and value of lighting mock-ups to ensure a successful design for unique project applications. We mock up custom fixtures, unique architectural materials and lighting effects to establish clear criteria for specifications and detailed drawings. Not every project warrents a mockup, but the exercise can lead to a better understanding for the Client as well as produce clear coordination steps for the team in advancing the design. Tec Studio's Lighting and Technology Expertise to Assist in New Design Guide
Tec Studio president, Ardra Zinkon has been elected to serve as Co-Chair for the newly formed IoT Connected Lighting Committee for the Illuminating Engineering Society. Ms. Zinkon developed the initial outline for the committee with the goal of creating a Design Guide as the initial publication of the organization. This Technical Committee will research and develop best practices and standards that
encompass connectivity in the built environment through the implementation of lighting products and lighting equipment. The guide will be applicable to multiple market sectors including: Smart Cities, Hospitality, Retail, Education, Corporate, Healthcare and Transportation.

The lighting for the Cleveland Botanical Garden Glasshouse has been recognized for an IES Illumination Award of Merit in two catagories: Control Innovation and Interior Lighting. St Turibius Chapel mural at the Josephinum Pontifical College was also recognized with an Interior Lighting award for the mural illumination.
